Security at Mirwaiz's residence beefed up : JK Govt

Jammu, Jan 15 (UNI) Following the grenade attack at the residence of moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the Jammu and Kashmir Government today beefed up the security at his house and deployed two more security personnel.

Raising the issues in state Legislative Assembly some members demanded clarification from the government. The Health and Medical Education Minister Mangat Ram Sharma informed the lower house about beefed up security of Hurriyat leader.

While condemning the incident Congress Minister said the security forces have started a search operation to nab the assaulter and people behind the incident.

''None of the family member's of Mirwiaz was present in the house at the time of incident. The district administration has beefed up the security of the Hurriyat leader's residence and deployed two extra security personnel,'' he informed the house.

The National Conference leader Mehboob Baig, while criticising the attack, demanded an explaination from the government. The government should identify the people who were against the peace process, he said.
