Militant kills one and injures a top Ikhwan leader

Srinagar, Jan 15 (UNI) Militants killed one person and injured critically a leader of Ikhwan and a soldier in Jammu and Kashmir today.

Official sources said militants shot at and critically wounded Abdul Rehman Parray from point-blank range in the main market at Hajan in north Kashmir this afternoon.

The injured was immediately shifted to hospital.

Parray alias Dilawar Khan, who had joined main opposition party National Conference (NC), was a close associate of founder of Ikhwan group the late Mohammad Yousuf Parray, alias Kuka Parray.

A soldier was injured when militants attacked a patrol at Shopian in south Kashmir today. Militants later managed to escape, they said.

According to an official spokesman, the militant kidnapped 50-year-old Abdul Rashid from his Sumber house in Ramban and later shot him dead.
