Mild snowfall in higher reaches of HP
Shimla, Jan 15 (UNI) The higher altitude areas of Lahaul Spiti district and Pangi Valley in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh experienced mild snowfall last night after over a month, while the state had some respite from coldwave conditions.
The high altitude areas in Pangi Valley was receiving intermittent snowfall since last night, while light clouds were hovering over the higher reaches of Lahaul Spiti, which experienced mild snowfall last night.
However, the dry spell continued in the tribal districts of Kinnuar, Chamba and Kullu and all mid and lower hills, which received no precipitation during the last 24 hrs despite thick cloud cover over the entire state yesterday.
The met office said the state had some respite from the coldwave conditions with Shimla recording a rise in the night temperature, which stood at two degrees as compared to 0.6 degrees recorded yesterday.
Sundernagar in Mandi district and Bhuntar in Kullu district recorded minimum temperatures of 1.2 and 1.5 degrees respectively after recording below freezing point temperatures during the last few days, it said.
The met office said the night temperature at Kalpa in Kinnuar district also rose to minus 4.7 degrees from yesterday's 5.5 degrees, even as the minimum temperatures in the higher altitude areas remain between minus 15 and 25 degree Celsius.
The people in the state capital woke to another clear bright and a sunny day today after receiving light showers late last night following overcast conditions yesterday.
