Mehbooba for harnessing natural resources of J

Srinagar, Jan 15 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today said unemployment was one of the major problem faced by Jammu and Kashmir, and called for harnessing of natural resources to meet the challenge.

Addressing party workers at Lolab in north Kashmir, she said as available resources could not be mobilised and the private sector could not take off in a big way, the youth were looking for government jobs and avenues.

Ms Mufti said the state's resources had not been utilised fully to the advantage of the unemployed youth, thus significantly piling up their number in the state.

She suggested and hoped that in the coming budget, due care would be taken of the youth by giving incentives and packages to them.

The PDP president said the coalition government was committed to providing all basic facilities to the people of all areas.

''It is not a favour to the people but the duty of the coalition government to address their problems,'' she added.
