Lt General gives away Sena Medals to 15 Armymen

Panaji, Jan 15 (UNI) The Commander in chief, Southern Command Lt General Aditya Singh today gave away Sena medals (Gallantry) to 15 Armymen, which includes five posthumously, on the occasion of the Army-Day celebrations at a military camp at Bombolim in Goa.

Lt Gen Singh also awarded seven sena medals (Devotion to duty), and 14 Vishit Seva Medals.

He told mediapersons that ''we have specially planned this presentation in Goa in order to motivate the youth to join the Armed Forces''. He said all the three forces are in process of modernisation which is esential in view of the threat to the Nation.

The recipients of the Gallantry awards were Lt Col Rajeev Bakshi, 13 Dogra Regiment(posthumous), Lt Col Sree Kumar Gopinath Kartha, 12 Grenadiers, Major Neeraj Bakshi 6/5 Gorkha Rifle (Frontier Force), Major Rajnish Kumar Maahi, Artillery/25 Rashtriya Rifle (Madras), Major Digvijay Singh Chauvan, Corps of Engineers/36 Rashtriya Rifles (Garh Rif), Nb Sub Himmantrao Pandurang Paithane (RETD) 1 Mahar Regiment (JCO did gallantary act in the rank of Havildar), L/Hav Ajith Kumar G, 11 Madras/38 Rashtriya Rifles, Havaldar Hiteshwar Ray 8 Assam Regiment, L/Hav Dhurba Rai 1 Naga Regiment, NK S Lenin, 651 Engineer plant Unit (Posthumous), Sep Penlody Vijay Kumar Madras/54 Rashtriya Rifle (Posthumous), Sapper Yadav Mahadev Narayan, 270 Engineer Regt (Posthumous) and Gunner Rajanekar Reddy Sallaram, Army Air Defence/23 Rashtriya Rifles (Posthumous).
