Interim parliament meeting starts, Maoists take part
Kathmandu, Jan 15 (UNI) The first meeting of the interim parliament began here this evening with the participation of 83 Maoist MPs in the 329-member parliament.
Bal Bahadur Rai, 83, being the oldest member of the parliament administered the oath of office to the MPs at the parliament secretariat here this evening.
The meeting is being held after the unanimous approval of the interim constitution that has completely abolished the power of the King and transfered all the roles of the head of state to the prime minister.
The King will have no role in the Himalayan nation until the constituent assembly election to be held in June this year decides the future of the monarchy which ruled the country for nearly 239 years.
There are 85 MPs from the Nepali Congress.
