IED defused near Kashmir highway

Srinagar, Jan 15 (UNI) Security forces averted a major tragedy when they detected and defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir today.

Police said a Road Opening Party (ROP) of 49 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) detected an IED at Bonigam, Qazigund near the 300-km national highway-IA in south Kashmir's Anantnag district this morning.

The bomb disposal squad later defused the IED, they added.
