Hizb condemns grenade attack on Mirwaiz residence

Srinagar, Jan 15 (UNI) The Hizbul Mujahideen, the single largest indigenous militant outfit operating in Jammu and Kashmir, has strongly condemned the grenade attack on the residence of moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq here today.

''We strongly condemn the grenade attack on the residence of the Mirwaiz. This seems to be an act carried by the elements who had damaged the freedom struggle at its inception,'' Hizb spokesman Ahsan Illahi told local media here by telephone from Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The Hizb spokesman urged the people to maintain calm at this ''critical'' juncture.
