Patiala, Jan 15 (UNI) A local court today adjourned the case against noted Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi to February 5.

The singer did not appear in Patiala court in the case of illegally taking people abroad for money and duping people of large amounts of money.

The court exempted him from personal appearance today on request by the defence counsel.

The court adjourned the case to February 5 following certain objections raised by the defence counsel.

Patiala police had registered a case against Mehndi and his brother Shamsher Mehndi under various sections of the IPC and the Indian Passport Act on September 19, 2003 on the complaint of Bakhshish Singh of Balbehra village among others for allegedly duping them of money on the promise of including them in his troupe during foreign trips.
