Criminal killed in encounter in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Jan 15 (UNI) A history-sheeter, carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head, was gunned down in an encounter in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh.

Police today said on a tip-off, cops reached Khurja area and shot dead a criminal, identified as Yaqoob late last night, when he was trying to escape after committing a robbery.

One pistol, a stolen motorcycle and a large number of cartridges were recovered from the spot.

About 18 cases of loot, dacoity, abduction and murder were pending against the slain criminal.
