CLP for referring back controversial regional plan to TCP Board

Panaji, Jan 15 (UNI) The Goa Congress Legislative Party( CLP) today unanimously decided to refer back the controversial Goa Regional Plan 2011 to the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board.

Congress spokesperson Jitendra Deshprabhu, speaking to reporters after the CLP meeting, said the Cabinet, which is to meet shortly, will refer back the Plan to the TCP Board in deference to the CLP decision.

Mr Deshprabhu urged NGOs and individuals, opposed to the Plan, to file their objections and suggestions within 60 days before the TCP Board. He said the Goa Government is aware of the people's demand and necessary changes will be made in the Plan.

He also informed about the CLP's decision to accord the same benefits to the ''Dhangar'' community as those enjoyed by the ''Gawadas'', ''Kunbis'' and ''Velips'' who were included in the scheduled tribe category. However, the ''Dhangars'' have not been included in the ST category.
