BSP candidate booked for defacement of public property
Moga, Jan 15 (UNI) The Punjab Police has registered a case against BSP candidate from Dharamkot (reserved) assembly constituency Shvinder Singh Shiva for violation of the Defacement Act pertaining to public properties.
The candidate was arrested by the police and later released on bail.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gautam Chemma said here today the case was registered after the candidate was found pasting election posters on public property on Saturday. He was given a notice but the candidate continued to violate the model code of conduct which prohibits defacement of public property, he added.
The BSP nominee was again found sticking posters at public places yesterday and was taken into custody, he said and added that he was released as it is a bailable offence.
Mr Cheema said he had directed all the subordinate police personnel including all the SHOs to intensify patrolling to check violation of the model code of conduct.
