Blast kills two in Afghan refugee camp in Pakistan
Islamabad, Jan 15: An explosion at an Afghan refugee camp innorthwestern Pakistan killed two people today, police said, but thecause of the blast was not immediately known.
The explosion rocked a mud-walled house in Jalozai camp, near thecity of Peshawar not far from the border with Afghanistan whereseveral, mostly small, explosions have occurred over the past year.
''The roof of a room collapsed and at least two people were killedand a few injured,'' a senior police officer Mohammad Tahir toldReuters.
He said the blast could be an act of terrorism, though police were investigating.
A car bomb last month killed one person in the city.
Pakistan has been home to millions of Afghan refugees since 1980swhen Afghans fled their homeland to escape the war against Sovietoccupation. Most of these refugees are living in the North WestFrontier Province, of which Peshawar is the capital.
