BHEL, ALSTOM to generate 150,000 MW power in 10 yrs

New Delhi, Jan 15 (UNI) Public sector giant BHEL with the help of French Company ALSTOM will generate 150,000 MW of power in the country in the next 10 years, Heavy Industries Minister Sontosh Mohan Dev said today.

Welcoming a French delegation, led by MEDEF Chairman Jean Burelle, Mr Dev said BHEL had signed a technology transfer agreement with ALSTOM in super critical power plants which would help it reach that target.

An equivalent of the CII and FICCI, MEDEF is actively promoting business in India.

Mr Dev told the delegation, comprising top French investors, that India was offering huge opportunity for investment and collaboration in for a number of sectors including energy, automobile, capital goods, chemicals, insurance and banking, environment, urban development, ports and infrastructure.

''Emerging economies like India require collaboration in technology to fully utilise its excellent infrastructure to become competitive in the world market,'' he said and sought investment from the French companies known for their cutting-edge technology.

Earlier, an Italian delegation, led by Mr Roberto Formigoni, President of Lombardy region, called on Mr Dev, and discussed matters of mutual interests.
