Barzan's head ripped off in Iraq hanging

Baghdad, Jan 15: The head of Saddam's half-brother and former intelligence chief Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti was ripped off his body when he was hanged at 3:00 am (0530 hrs IST) today, the government spokesman said.

''In a rare case, the head of Barzan was detached from his body during the execution,'' government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told a news conference.
