TN Governor, CM greet people

Chennai, Jan 14 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and other political leaders today greeted the people on the occasion of Pongal.

In his message, Mr Barnala said 'Pongal' festival would usher in peace and prosperity, a record production of agricultural crops and all round development in the state and the nation''.

Mr Karunanidhi, in his message reminded the farmers of their essential role of producing food for the people.

''On this day all the people across the world should express their gratitude to the hard working farmers'', he said.

Opposition leader and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalitha, in her message, said this festival should remove poverty and bring peace and prosperity to the people.

MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, TNCC leader M Krishnasamy, PMK leader Dr Ramados, BJP State President L Ganesan, Indian National Leage leader M Basheer Ahamed, Puthiya Thamizhagam President K Srishnasamy, Prince of Arcot Nawab Abdul Ali and other political leaders extended their greetings to the people on the occasion of festival.
