Ruling CPI(M) launches agitation from Feb one

Agartala, Jan 14 (UNI) Condemning the recent killings of Hindi speaking people by the ULFA in Asom, Tripura's ruling CPI(M) government has decided to launch a month-long agitational progaramme to press for it dmands from the Centre.

The party in its state committee meeting yesterday said it would go on agitation from February one, in support of its fifteen point charter of demands including five of its central committee's demand and the remaining ten for the state's interest.

The party had expressed its anger for non-allocation of funds for extension of rail line upto Sabroom in south district to rehabiliate the militants who have surrendered themselves.

The Centre had announced the allocation of funds as per a package scheme for the surrendered militants.

Besides, the state government was angry with the non approval for rehabilitation of people affected by the construction of barbed fencing along the Bangladesh border.

The party had demanded that the Centre check the rising prices of all essential commodities, to strengthen the public distribution system and allocate funds for expansion of railway line upto Sabroom in the coming budget session.
