Itanagar, Jan 14 (UNI) Three persons died while three others sustained serious injuries when their vehicle skidded off the road between Jengging and Pangkang in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh last evening, police today said.

The accident occurred when a team, including mediapersons, was going to Yingkiong from Tuting after covering the Siang River Festival 2007 there, Upper Siang Superintendent of Police Eba Lingu said.

Ani Dana, a photo-video journalist, died on the spot, while anchor Lijum Karso, working with the Hunger Project in Arunachal Pradesh unit, succumbed to her injuries at Jengging hospital.

Photographer Dillip Sharma died while being evacuated to Yingikiong district hospital, the SP informed.

Three others, journalist Ratul Teron, driver Gagan Sonar and one Md. Mubarak Ali were seriously injured. They were rushed to Yiongkiong hospital, where they were undergoing treatment, he added.

Expressing deep shock at the unfortunate incident, Deputy Commissioner Gamli Padu said a helicopter has been requisitioned for the evacuation of the injured while all help would be extended by the district administration for sending the bodies after conducting post mortem tomorrow.

The relatives were informed and expected to reach Jengging today, he added.
