Mizo Cong declares 2007 as year of 'save poor'

Aizawl, Jan 14: Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC)president Lal Thanhawla announced 2007 as the year of "Save poor" heretoday.

He alleged that the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) governmenthas obtained huge amount of funds from the Centre in the name of thepoor farmers which had not been utilised properly.

''The money have been used for those who will never be affected byfamine. So we launched a crusade against corruption'', he claimed.

Mr Thanhawla also invited leaders, who had left the Congress party as well as non-Congress people to join the crusade.

He said, ''Formation of government is not the main objective ofthe party but saving the poor from oppression of the MNF is ourintention''.

The MPCC supreme also pointed out that the MNF government hadinitiated a probe into the 'so called Lal Thanhawla's corruption caseto tarnish his image.

''Surprisingly, the MNF government was the only state governmentin India who did not allowed the CBI to enter the state,'' he added.
