Hyderabad, Jan 14 (UNI) After receiving major blows like killing of party leaders and activists in police encounters and recovery of arms and ammunition including rocket launchers from its camps, the banned naxal organisation has decided to stop its activities temporarily in Andhra Pradesh.

According to highly reliable sources, the Maoist party wanted to halt its activities for a period of six months to one year, in the state. The decision was taken at a party congress held recently.

State party leaders were not interested in continuing their militant activities since the Maoists were facing 'tough fight' from the state police, and as a result a large number of dalam members and surrendered before the police.

The party was planning to rejuvenate its cadre and study the political scenario taking place in the state in next six months. The party would watch the political development in the state and study the opposition parties role in fighting against the 'anti-poor' policies adopted by the state govenrment, the sources added.
