Maoists to ramify into Bhutan

Hyderabad, Jan 14 (UNI) After succeeding in emerging as a 'people-supported' party and playing a key role in the recent political developments in Nepal, the CPI (Maoist) party is planning to extend its activities to Bhutan to strengthen its party base.

According to intelligence sources, the Maoist party was chalking out plans to strengthen its base in Bhutan which has' been under the control of aristocratic rule since decades. The aim of the Maoist party in Bhutan was to replace monarchy with democracy.

The leaders of the party ascertained that 40 per cent of the people living in Bhutan are of Nepali origin. They would support the party which will help them to expand its activites and strengthen its base.

The sources said, the party would get support from India, Nepal and other countries where they have substantial presence. The party would get logistic support, from India, While Nepal would supply arms.

The party had ramified into Communist Party of Bhutan (Maoist) in January 2006.
