Lt Governor, CM greet people
Puducherry, Jan 14 (UNI) Puducherry Lt Governor Mukut Mithi and Chief Minister N Rangasamy today greeted the people on the occasion of Pongal.
In his message, Mr Mithi said the harvest festival 'Pongal' reminds the urban people the essential role played by the rural working class, who produce life sustaining agricultural products and the tradition of honouring the working class.
He wished that Pongal, the festival symbolising fertility, usher in happiness and prosperity in the lives of the people of Puducherry.
''May, we in line with the true tradition of honouring the working class, give the best possible assistance to the rural working class on the festival day,'' he said.
Mr Rangasamy, in his message, wished peace, prosperity and happiness to the people of Puducherry on the occasion of Pongal.
Speaker R Radhakrishnan, PCC(I) President P Shanmugham, AICC General Secretary V Narayanasamy MP and leaders of other political parties greeted the people on the occasion of the festival.
