Former UP Minister passes away

Lucknow, Jan 14 (UNI) Former Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Vikramaditya Pandey died of cardiac arrest in the state capital today.

He was 74.

The senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader suddenly took ill late last night and was rushed to Balrampur hospital. This morning, the septuagenarian leader breathed his last when he was being taken to Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS).

In 1993, he was chosen as MLC on SP ticket. Later, he became the state Urban Development Minister.

Mr Pandey's last rites would be performed at his native town Ballia with full state honours.

UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and Family Welfare Minister Ahmad Hassan have expressed grief over the demise of the leader.
