Five-year-old charred to death in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 14 (UNI) A five-year-old girl was charred to death and her parents critically injured in a fire in their South Delhi house this morning.

Fire department officials identified the girl as Arifa.

Her father Mohammad Hassan, (40), has sustained 70 per cent burns, and the mother -- Nasreen (35)-- is battling for life with 85 per cent burns.

The injured were immediately rushed to the Safdarjung hospital by the police.

The officials said the blaze, which broke out in the densely populated Khanpur area, was reported at 0755 hrs and a fire tender was sent to the site.

The officials said the bedding on which the family was sleeping had caught fire from the room heater.
