Cop killed as service weapon goes off

Pathanamthitta, Jan 14 (UNI) A constable today succumbed to bullet injuries after his service weapon went off accidentally at the police camp at Pampa, in the foothills of the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple here.

Suresh Kumar of the Armed Reserve Battalion was rushed to Kottayam Medical College Hospital but died on the way, officials said.

However, no one else in the room, where the accident occurred, was injured, the police added.

Kumar was assigned for special duty at Sabarimala for the 'Makarasamkranthi' pooja.
