18-kg cauliflower

Satna, Jan 14 (UNI) A cauliflower weighing 18 kg has been displayed by a farmer at a government workshop organised in this district headquarters.

Bhaiyyalal Mallah yesterday claimed to have cultivated more than one such massive vegetable at his farm over the past decade. ''I was inspired to grow them after I watched a TV programme that showed a 5-kg cauliflower. The sapling is first cultivated in a nursery for 21 days prior to plantation in the farm with adequate urea and potash.'' At 21-day intervals, the peasant shifts each plant to fresh locations thrice during the growth period.
