Western Army Commander Presents Gallantry Awards

New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) Lieutenant General Daljeet Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army's Western Command, today presented Gallantry and Distinguished Service awards to 54 Army personnel at an impressive investiture parade here.

The awards included 22 Sena Medals -- three for Gallantry -- and 27 Vishisht Seva medals, including three Bars -- with the seniormost recipient being Lt Gen Mandhata Singh, Director General Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).

The recipients also included Mrs Suman, widow of Rifleman Vijay Singh of the Garhwal Rifles -- awarded the Sena Medal (Posthumous) for his gallant action against militants in the Rajouri District of Jammu&Kashmir.
