Western Army Commander presents Gallantry Awards

New Delhi, Jan 13: Lieutenant General Daljeet Singh, GeneralOfficer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army's Western Command, todaypresented Gallantry and Distinguished Service awards to 54 Armypersonnel at an impressive investiture parade here.

The awards included 22 Sena Medals -- three for Gallantry -- and27 Vishisht Seva medals, including three Bars -- with the seniormostrecipient being Lt Gen Mandhata Singh, Director General DefenceIntelligence Agency (DIA).

The recipients also included Mrs Suman, widow of Rifleman VijaySingh of the Garhwal Rifles -- awarded the Sena Medal (Posthumous) forhis gallant action against militants in the Rajouri District of Jammu&Kashmir.
