Two persons absconding misappropriating govt fund

Agartala, Jan 13(UNI) Two tribal leaders of Mandai Area has been absconding after misappropriating state government money worth Rs three lakhs, sources said here.

According to police today, the two accused, Subha Debbarma and Ashim Debbarma, both hailing from Kathiram para, misappropriated the amount sanctioned by the District Magistrate and Collector for setting up tubewells for drinking water.

Ruling CPI(M), however, claimed that both the accused were leaders of INPT party and selected as president and secretary of the Village Water Sanitation Committe when their party was in power.

When the ruling CPI(M) asked the accussed about the sanctioned money, they could not provide proper explanation.

A case has been filed against them, sources said.
