Naidu's plea on Ninth Schedule
Chennai, Jan 13 (UNI) Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu today appealed to all political parties in the country to unite to protect the sanctity of the ninth Schedule of the Constitution.
Arriving here from Hyderabad, Mr Naidu told newsmen at the airport that the issue had to be dealt with carefully as the Apex Court, which ruled that laws placed in the ninth Schedule after April 24, 1973 were subject to judicial scrutiny, was the supreme body of the judical system.
The apex court ruling would expose reservation laws enacted by some southern states to judicial scrutiny.
Mr Naidu also said it was the duty of every political party to protect reservaton for uplift of the needy.
