Naidu's plea to protect sanctity of Ninth Schedule
Chennai, Jan 13: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDPPresident N Chandrababu Naidu today appealed to all political partiesin the country to unite to protect the sanctity of the ninth Scheduleof the Constitution.
Arriving here from Hyderabad, Mr Naidu told newsmen at the airportthat the issue had to be dealt with carefully as the Apex Court, whichruled that laws placed in the ninth Schedule after April 24, 1973 weresubject to judicial scrutiny, was the supreme body of the judicalsystem.
The apex court ruling would expose reservation laws enacted by some southern states to judicial scrutiny.
Mr Naidu also said it was the duty of every political party to protect reservaton for uplift of the needy.
