Mulky Rafique escapes from police custody
Mangalore, Jan 13 (UNI) Mohammad Rafiq alias Mulky Rafique, prime accused in the Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sukhananda Shetty and Polali Ananthu murder case has escaped from police custody, police sources said.
Rafique, while being taken back to Mysore jail from here last night after being produced before the Court for the extension of police custody, escaped by jumping from the jeep.
Rafique was arrested along with his wife Fatima Zohra on December 29, 2006, from Tiruttani in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu and was brought here.
District Superintendent of Police B Dayanand who rushed to the spot has launched an intense search operation to nab him.
Rafique accused of taking supari in the murder of the leader at Kulai on December One, 2006 was also suspected to be involved in the murder of Polali Ananthu.
UNI
