Maoists kill ZPTC member in AP

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 13 (UNI) Outlawed Maoists gunned down Guntur Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) Member V Bhasakara Reddy of the Congress late last night in his native Chinna Kodama Kundla Village here, police today said.

Apprehending danger to his life, Mr Reddy had been staying at the Zilla Parishad Guest House here for more than a month.

Last evening, Mr Reddy visited his uncle in the village and was returning home on a motorcycle, when Maoists opened fire killing him on the spot.

His brother Venkatram Reddy, who was on the pillion, was injured.

Reddy's wife Bharati was the sarpanch of the village.
