Manipur lasses lift team title in Epee

Bangalore, Jan 13 (UNI) Defending champion Manipur lasses lifted the Epee team event title by defeating hosts Karnataka 15-12 in the 17th Senior National Fencing Championship here today.

Manipur sabers, led by S Reosiha Devi, were quick in attacking and did not give time to the opponents to settle. Devi was well supported by her team mates M Sandhyarani Devi, L Samashaki Devi and R K Rabika Devi.

Manipur men also continued their domination and won the ninth overall gold for their State by defeating Assam 15-5 in the Saber Team event.

Earlier, in the Epee Men's team event, Manipur defeated Andhra Pradesh 10-5 to enter the finals.

In the Epee women's individual event, Karnataka's international fencer Lakshmi defeated Ruchi of Punjab 13-8 to enter the finals, while in a keenly contested encounter Karamjeeth of Punjab defeated L Sambakhasi of Andhra Pradesh 13-12.
