Injured courier employee dies
Surat, Jan 13 (UNI) One of the seriously injured 'Angadias' (courier employees), who were injured in a loot attempt on Thursday, died at New Civil Hospital, here.
The deceased, Govind Patel (65), succumbed to his injuries on Friday night, Doctors at the hospital said.
On Thursday, three employees of the Vasant Ambalal Angadia Company were seriously injured when a gangster tried to rob the consignment they were carrying at Sardar Chowk, Bardoli. A bullet hit Govind Patel in stomach while Kanu Patel was shot in both chest and leg, when the assailant fired three rounds. Meanwhile, Hitesh Patel escaped with minor injuries, police said.
Earlier, the three had been admitted to Sardar Memorial Hospital, Bardoli. The condition of two of them was critical. Later, Patel was brought to New Civil Hospital, Surat.
Investigations are on but police is clueless yet, Surat Superintendent of Police B K Jha said.
