India, Pak to constitute committee to release prisoners

Islamabad, Jan 13 (UNI) India and Pakistan today decided to constitute a committee of judges to consider the release of prisoners in both countries who have completed their jail terms and agreed to convene a meeting of India and Pakistan Joint Comission in March.

The two countries also decided to hold the first meeting of the joint anti-terror mechanism before March.

It was also decided to allow Indian diplomats to visit Taxila and Hasanabdal and Pakistani diplomats to go to Gurgoan and Noida.

External Affairs Minsister Pranab Mukerjee held an extensive one-on-one discussion with his Pakistani counterpart Kurshid Mahmood Kasuri at the Pakistan foregin office here this evening which was followed by delegation level talks.

Replying to questions, the Pakistani Foreign Minister said on Siachen his position had not changed from what he had said earlier that given the political will ''the matter could be resolved within days''.
