Gujarat Congress gears up for Sonia visit

Vadodara, Jan 13 (UNI) The Gujarat Congress is geared up for Sonia Gandhi's proposed tribal rally at Devgadh-Baria in Dahod district on January 20.

The Congress president, who will be on a day's visit to the state, is scheduled to attend the closing ceremony of the five-day Tribal Janmitra Training Camp at Devgadh-Baria before addressing the public rally.

Talking to mediapersons here today, Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki said the state party had decided to organise the five-day training camp in Dahod for the youths from eight tribal-dominated districts of Gujarat from January 16 to 20 as part of its ''Go to the people'' programme.

A number of senior party leaders and ministers in the UPA government were expected to be present for the camp which is to be inaugurated by noted Gandhian leader Nirmala Despande, he said adding that the programme was aimed at creating awareness amongst the adivasis and strengthening the organisation in tribal areas.
