Gang of child traffickers busted

Kishanganj, Jan 13 (UNI) Kishanganj Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) busted a gang of child traffickers here recently and rescued 57 juveniles from the custody of two kingpins who were nabbed at the Kishanganj Railway Station.

Kishanganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Kumar Sinha here today said acting on a tip-off, the RPF and the GRP personnel swung into action and arrested the kingpins-- Hayat Ali and Abdul Bari--and rescued the young boys, who were about to board a train to Lucknow.

According to reports, the boys aged between 10 and 15, were picked up from villages in Kishanganj, Dharmpur and Chakulia in adjoining West Bengal. They were contracted as ''bonded labourers'' and supposed to perform all kinds of jobs, including domestic help, on a monthly salary of Rs 1500.

RPF Inspector S K Prasad said the duo was booked and the process to hand over the rescued children to their parents was on.
