Dr Joshi to get 'Outstanding Vegetarian' award
New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi will be conferred upon the status of 'outstanding practitioner of staunch vegetarian' by the Indian Vegetarian Congress (IVC) at its Silver Jubilee celebrations at Chennai tomorrow.
The IVC, founded by noted Bharatanatyam exponent Rukmini Devi Arundale in 1959 to propagate vegetarianism as a healthy way of life, will felicitate Rajya Sabha member Dr Joshi for his contributions and achievements as a practising vegetarian at the three-day mega event at the Music Academy Hall.
Noted film star Amitabh Bachchan and BJP MP and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi, IT czar N R Narayana Murthy, Mukesh Ambani and Dr M S Swaminathan figure among the recipients of the IVC awards in the past.
Dr Joshi has been chosen among the 10 most charismatic personalities around the globe.
