DMK functionary hacked to death

Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, Jan 13 (UNI) A DMK functionary was hacked to death in the early hours of today leading to tension before the hospital where his body was kept for post-mortem this morning.

Police said N Subramanian (45) of Therku Pichavaram was playing cards with R Chandran (40) and Govindrajan (35) when he wanted to leave.

However, this was objected to by Chandran and Govindarjan who wanted him to continue with the game. A wordy duel ensued and in a fit of rage, the duo hacked Subramanian to death.

This morning relatives and villagers belonging to Therku Pichavaram blocked traffic before the government hospital here where the body was kept for post-mortem demanding arrest of the culprits and compensation for the victim's family.

Police later pacified the agitators who later dispersed.
