ATSUM relaxes blockade for two days

Imphal, Jan 12: The All Tribal Students Union of Manipur inresponse to an appeal by the All Manipur Transport and Motor WorkersUnion has relaxed the economic blockade on the two national highwaysfor two days.

Ch Apam, education secretary, ATSUM, said the vehicles stranded atManipur-Nagaland border areas were asked to proceed towards Imphalyesterday and several trucks, including oil tankers and LPG carriers,came till late night.

No vehicle was, however, allowed to go out of the state.

The drivers union had appealed to the tribal students to relax theblockade so that the drivers could participate in Drivers' Dayobservation tomorrow.
