AIGPA appeals to FM for inviting glass sector
New Delhi, Jan 13: Aiming to avail some relaxation from theGovernment, the All India Glass Processors Association (AIGPA) hasappealed to Finance Minister P Chidambaram to invite the glass sectorfor consultations with the upcoming budget 2007-08.
''If this sector receives relaxation in Central taxes, specialrebates in import duties, the growth rate would rise tremendously whichin turn will strengthen the economy of the country,'' AIGPA Presidentcum Gold Plus Group CMD Subhash Tyagi said in a statement here.
He added that the glass sector growing at an annual growth rate of20-23 per cent is playing a vital role in building the Indian economy,and thus cannot be neglected.
The industry provides direct employmet to more than half a millionpeople and around one million people indirectly, Mr Tyagi said.
