India, Pakistan border security officials meet

Karachi, Jan 12 (UNI) India and Pakistan border security officials will a meet in Monabao to discuss joint patrolling and ways to further reinforce security mechanisms along the border.

''Joint patrolling along the border, defence construction, adjustment of security lights, issues of inadvertent border crossers and measures to prevent smuggling of drugs and contraband items came under discussion at the meeting,'' said a press release issued by Pakistan Rangers.

Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Deputy Director General Brigadier Syed Khushnood Hussain and his Indian counterpart K R Patel led their respective delegations at the meeting held yesterday.

Border security officials hold the meeting after every three months, alternately, in both the countries.

''Such meetings will pave the way for good neighbourly relations between the two countries and contribute towards peace and prosperity in the region at large,'' Brig Hussain said.
