Bangladesh's Jan. 22 poll postponed - official
DHAKA, Jan 11: Parliamentary elections in Bangladesh set for January 22 will be postponed after the resignation of caretaker Presient Iajuddin Ahmed today, a presidential spokesman said.
''Holding the elections on January. 22 is not possible after the changeover tonight,'' he said after Iajuddin stepped down as head of the interim authority in charge of organising the polls.
''How can this be possible when also most of the advisers to the caretaker government have also resigned?'' he said.
Asked when the elections might be held, the spokesman said ''It will be decided in due course.''
