Winter turns pleasant in UP

Lucknow, Jan 11 (UNI) The winter has turned pleasant in Uttar Pradesh with most parts of the state recording above normal temperatures.

So far, the biting cold wave had been shivering eastern Uttar Pradesh since last two weeks.

A marked rise in temperatures accompanied by bright sunshine brought some respite from the chilly weather condition in Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Faizabad and Jhansi divisions.

However, Allahabad, Sultanpur, Gorakhpur, Bareilly and Agra divisions witnessed slight fall in night temperatures, met office told UNI here today.

Agra at 4.8 degrees Celsius was the coldest place in UP for the second consecutive day. Allahabad recorded 7.4 degrees C, followed by Gorakhpur 7.3 and Bareilly 7.5 degrees C.

A report from Allahabad and Faizabad said people had been facing hardships due to poor power supply.

Fog continued to affect train schedules. All major long-distance trains, including the Amarnath Express, Barauni-Gwallior Express, Nauchandi Express, Triveni Express and the Reevan Express were delayed.

4723/4724 Kalindi Express, 5003/5004 Chauri Chaura Express and the Farrukhabad Passenger have been suspended till January 31.

According to weatherman, mornings would continue to be hazy.
