UP consumer rights framework finetuned
Lucknow, Jan 11 (UNI) In the larger interest of consumer grievances' redressal in Uttar Pradesh, the district supply officers in the state have been appointed as ex officio district consumer protection officers (DCPO).
The DCPOs will figure as coordinator/member of the district consumer protection council constituted under the chairmanship of the concerned district magistrate.
This was informed by state principal secretary food and civil supplies Sudhir Kumar here today.
Earlier by May 2004 Government Order (GO), the district chief development officers were appointed ex officio DCPOs, while district supply officers were appointed ex officio assistant DCPOs.
Mr Kumar further informed that assistant district magistrates (civil supplies) of a district would continue to be the member of the respective district consumer protection council.
