Tamil film actor arrested

Chennai, Jan 11: City Police arrested popular Tamil film actor Pandiyan for allegedly cheating a person of Rs 2.25 lakh.

Police said, one Murugasen of Manamudurai had approached Mr Pandiyan and sought his help to secure a job for him in 1999.

Pandiyan promised him to secure a job and demanded a sum of Rs 2.25 lakh from him.

However, Mr Pandiyan neither got him the job nor returned the money to Murugesan.

Despite repeated attempts, Murugesan did not get the money from the actor. As usual yesterday morning, Murugesan went to the actor's house and requested him to repay the money.

It was alleged that instead of repaying the money the actor and his friends abused and beat up Murugesan.

Based on his complaint, Vadapalani Police arrested the actor.

Investigation was on.
