Solatium to DMK worker

Chennai, Jan 11 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today gave a compensation of Rs 50,000 to a DMK cadre, who suffered injuries in a police firing six years ago.

Mr Karunanidhi presented the cheque to Mr Shiva, belonging to Vaakkur village in Villupuram district, at the Secretariat here.

Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy and legislator S Pushparaj were also present.

The DMK man suffered injuries in the firing during a rally held on August 12, 2001, to condemn the midnight arrest of Mr Karunanidhi in a flyover scam case.
