Srinagar, Jan 11 (UNI) Siraj Bagh on the banks of famed Dal lake in Kashmir is coming up as the world's largest tulip garden.

Being developed over more than 600 kanals (30 hectares) of land, the garden has about 3.5 lakh tulip flowers.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad conducted an extensive inspection of the garden last evening.

Mr Azad went round different sections and instructed for further development of the garden.

He said the garden should come up as a major tourist attraction and more varieties of flowers be planted in it.

Mr Azad instructed that the expansion of the garden should be in such a manner that about 9 lakh tulips bloom by next year.

The expansion plan of the garden has been designed on 2000 kanals (100 hectares) of land facing Dal lake.
