SC ruling has a novel aspect,says Cong

New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) The Congress today expressed the view that the Supreme Court ruling that the Ninth Schedule Laws did not enjoy absolute immunity had both novel as well as not so novel aspects in it.

Reacting to the apex court ruling, Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said the judgement in one aspect was not novel in the sense that it asserted the supremacy of the basic structure of the Constitution.

"In another aspect,it is novel as it has expanded the frontiers of the judicial review by testing the Constitutional amendments on the touchstone of the Article 14,19 and 21,''Mr Singhvi said talking to UNI
